Poland quickly cut itself off from infected Western Europe
When The Chinese Virus, Wuhan Virus, Kung Flu or 'Covid-19' came to Europe in early 2020 Poland quickly cut itself off from infected Western Europe.
Just like it had done so back in the Middle Ages with The Great Bubonic Plague or Black Death.
Poland closed its schools well before those in Britain. It could afford to do so, for many Polish grandchildren live in the same house as their grandparents - three generations all together under one roof. Totally normal in Polish culture with their spacious flats and houses and grandparents retiring early.
Poles both in the UK and back in Poland laughed at how slow the British were reacting. But in Britain to close schools was not so easily done like in a former socialist, communist state, where for years generations of grandparents had retired anywhere between 45 and 55.
They laughed at the creaking national health service, overburdened by an overpopulated island, themselves part of the problem. Complained about its awful conditions. But somehow they continued to live there, and not back home?
For Poland knew all along that it wouldn't be paying for the damage to its economy. No, the EU including Britain would be footing the bill as they had done so for the past 30 years. Ever since the creaking satellite state had escaped from the gravitational clutches of the Soviet orbit.
The European Commission approved a 22-billion-euro state support package for Poland to help soften the economic impact of the coronavirus through grants and loan guarantees.
For Poland is a member of the EU that likes to take but not give. That favours Euros but not Muslim or African migrants. That brings but an empty glass to the table.
