I closed all my social media accounts today

I closed all my social media accounts today, taking the advice of computer scientist Jaron Lanier.

It's not the first time I've done it, but for sure it'll be the last.

They are all an utter waste of one's life and time. You only get one life on this planet. Why squander the limited time you have left?

Besides, I was never much of a social person anyway. I don't like crowds or 'human herds' - and certainly not the mob.

Yes, I'm removing myself from the addictive feedback loop. Going back in time before all this madness appeared. I feel sorry for young people nowadays, who have never known a world without Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

It's a relief. Now I can read books and concentrate on my personal blog, although I will be migrating my domain over to a hosting provider to move away from the very generic blogger.com.

I'll have a website like back in the 90s. Hand coded with my own HTML and CSS. It might look clunky, but at least it'll be original.

I'm also living largely without the internet. Just uploading to my website and avoiding all news/websites etc.

TV is also being liquidated, although I was never much of a binge watcher, even before streaming content came around.
