Eternal sleep
He lay in the hot bath tub. It numbed the pain from his wrists. The water was growing redder now. He could see vaguely through his barely open eyelids.
Then he closed his eyes and drifted deeper into the eternal sleep. Beyond the open window the sound of birds chirping in the garden became ever fainter.
His body began floating in the dark void. The delicious warmth.
And then his mind was no more. And the pain was gone.
